Man Receives Check from Government After Dog Eats $500

When one man's money went to the dogs, he wasn't going to let it, well, acutally go to the dogs.

Last December, Wayne Klinkel of Helena, Mont., discovered that his pup, Sundance, had eaten five $100 bills while he and his wife were eating at a restaurant during their road trip to Colorado. The bills were left inside the car with Sundance, who interestingly chose to leave the $1 bill untouched. 

Instead of accepting that the cash was lost, Klinkel sorted through the dog's droppings until he could reassemble parts of the bills. His daughter Amy Church, whom he and his wife were visiting in Colorado, found more pieces after the snow had melted in spring. 

By April, Klinkel was able to piece enough together and send the bills to the U.S. Treasury, along with an explanation of what had happened to them. Though he received a receipt for the bills 10 days later, he didn't hear anything else – until he recently received a check. 

"I gave Sundance a pat, showed it to him and told him not to eat it," Klinkel told Helena's Independent Record about the reimbursement, which arrived with no other information. 

"It was great to get the check after all the crap I went through." Literally!
